MARISA FIREBAUGH

Marisa has always been drawn to the sea and bright paints. She grew up the San Francisco Bay Area as the daughter of an avid fisherman and diver. She spent her childhood weekends going up and down Highway 1, as her dad searched for the perfect dive spots for abalone and halibut. Her mom is also a watercolor artist, and Marisa has been drawing and painting for as long as she can remember. Both of these influences coalesced, after Marisa graduated from the Academy of Art University with a BFA in Illustration. She started painting narwhals, mermaids and octopi; and founded her business Sketches By The Sea in 2017. She has been painting whimsical and coastal illustrations for stationary, decor and home goods ever since. And now she does it while living on a sailboat in Seattle.
